Meet Patrick McMahon

Meet Patrick McMahon, Project Manager at Clearspace.

His Path to Clearspace

Patrick has more than a decade of hands-on experience in the industry, his career has spanned carpentry, site supervision, and project management. He trained as a carpenter, and started his career in the trades before moving into site supervision within the ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) sector. Over a decade in construction, and five years managing on-site projects have given him a practical knowledge that cannot be taught, and can only be earned through experience.

This foundation set the stage for his evolution into construction and project management, where his understanding of the building process has proven invaluable. In Clearspace’s integrated environment where trades, design, and operations work together, Patrick knows how to bridge strategy with execution, and plays a vital role in keeping projects grounded in reality.

Finding his Fit

Patrick joined Clearspace as one of their earliest hires. Joining the team during its early growth phase allowed him to grow alongside the company, taking on increased responsibility as we expanded our project scope and client base. This shift into design-build allowed him to combine his technical expertise and project oversight to help deliver more efficient, coordinated builds.

In his early days at Clearspace, Patrick’s focus was on boots-on-the-ground execution. Over time, his role evolved significantly into leading a dedicated delivery pod, managing 20–30 projects yearly and working closely with clients and internal teams. His field experience, calm leadership, and ability to navigate complex scopes have made him a key part of Clearspace’s project success, and a trusted partner for repeat clients.

What Makes Projects Work?

One of Patrick’s biggest takeaways from his time at Clearspace has been the value of collaboration at all stages of the project lifecycle. He has seen firsthand how getting the right people (designers, engineers, site supers, and trades) into the same room early can drastically reduce variance, find efficiencies, and lead to smoother delivery. It is one of the core strengths of the design-build approach and a critical factor in what sets Clearspace apart.

“Working with Pat has been a total win—from site super to construction manager to project manager, he’s absolutely crushed it in every role. He strikes that rare balance of being both firm and flexible—knowing how to get things done while understanding the needs of both the client and the team. Pat adapts quickly, stays grounded, and always finds a way to move the project forward. He just gets it.”

Work-Life Balance

Outside of work, Patrick stays connected to his roots in carpentry. He recently completed a full renovation of his home which included designing, managing, and building, all on his own during evenings and weekends. This project is a reflection of his hands-on nature and continued passion for craftsmanship. When he’s not building, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his dog, hiking trails, or playing a round of golf when the weather allows. On-site and off the clock, Patrick brings the same sense of discipline and care to everything he encounters.

Scaling Impact

Patrick sees a bright future for Clearspace as the firm continues to grow and take on more ambitious work. He’s excited about the potential to move into larger, more complex projects and expand across Canada for major professional opportunities. He believes Clearspace has the model, talent, and discipline to lead the design-build space not just in Toronto, but nationwide.

His impact over the past four years reflects the kind of leadership Clearspace values: grounded, collaborative, and focused on execution. His presence on the team brings a steady, solution-focused mindset that continues to elevate project outcomes and strengthen collaboration across the company. He’s more than just a project manager. He is a trusted leader and team anchor, and Clearspace simply wouldn’t be the same without him.
